Children of the Sun: Portraits of Melanated People is a radiant, unapologetic celebration of Black identity and presence. Inspired by the bright lights in my community, the people of Benton Harbor, my spiritual family, and the vibrant art world around me—this collection honors those who shine despite every attempt to dim their light.

Each portrait in this series demands to be seen—bold, colorful, and full of soul. Created in gratitude, Children of the Sun reflects the resilience, beauty, and divine light within us all. When I look at these faces, I see strength, joy, and a mirror of what I hope to embody.

The collection debuted across two showings and sold out completely. Two pieces found homes on opening night, and the remaining thirteen were acquired by a health organization shortly after. I’m deeply grateful to every viewer and collector who helped bring this vision to life.
